Blueair's Beginning -

It's hard to imagine anything more natural than breathing. Breathing gives us the energy to work smarter, sleep deeper, play longer, and dream bigger. Unfortunately, access to clean air is not something that we can take for granted. Not even in our own homes. Indoor air is often more polluted than the air we breathe outside. More than two decades ago, Blueair founder Bengt Rittri wanted to ensure his children could breathe the same clean, fresh air inside their home as they did outside in the pristine Swedish Archipelago. Blueair's Solution to Indoor Air Pollution -

The good news is you can easily improve your indoor air by purchasing an air purifier for your most-used rooms. Blueair manufactures a broad range of portable Air Purifiers for cleaning indoor air. While typical air purifiers oftentimes simply push dirty or polluted air through a filter, Blueair's HEPASilent™ Technology takes filtration steps further. Blueair combines two filtration types, traditional mechanical filtration and electrostatic filtration. The result is more clean air at faster rates with less noise and less energy consumed than a lightbulb.

Electrostatic and mechanical filtration sounds very complicated, but it's actually quite simple. Specifically, airborne particles, like dust and pollen, receive an electrical charge that attracts them to and traps them in the positively charged HEPASilent™ filter. This technology is particularly useful because it traps smaller particles (down to 0.1 microns) that would otherwise normally pass through filters. In addition, by combining two filtration technologies, the filter doesn't need to do as much of the work. This, in turn, allows Blueair Filters to be less dense and deliver a uniquely high flow of clean air.

A less dense filter material means that the air purifier can run very efficiently at lower speeds. It also means it will make a lot less noise while running at these lower speeds. Operating at lower speeds uses significantly less energy which is why certain Blueair purifiers are qualified Energy Star® Certified Air Purifiers. Specific Energy Star® Certified Blueair Purifiers actually use less energy than a lightbulb.

Once captured in the air filter, the combination of electrical charging and high airflow rates kills 99% of germs. Furthermore, HEPASilent™ Technology filters remove up to 99.97% of all airborne particles, including dust, pollen, mold, pet dander, smoke, bacteria, and viruses. In addition, Blueair filters that are made with an activated carbon layer remove odors, chemical fumes, gasses, and even VOCs (volatile organic compounds).

Blueair's Solution to Wildfire Pollution -

An air purifier can help you manage poor indoor air quality caused by wildfire smoke, as recommended by the EPA in their cleanroom guidelines. However, not all air purifiers are ideal or equipped for smoke removal, and there are several factors you should consider. Evaluating an air purifier's performance in removing smoke-related pollutants should be done in three parts.

Firstly, filter type is critical, and combination particle and carbon filters are effective in removing fine particles as well as smells and ozone created by wildfires. The next feature to consider is the purifier's CADR or Clean Air Delivery Rate. The higher the CADR for smoke is, the more efficient the air purifier is at removing the harmful fine particles in smoke. And lastly, it's vital to choose an air purifier that can accommodate the volume of air in the room you place it in. This helps ensure there is enough airflow measured in ACH (or Air Changes Per Hour) to reduce pollutant levels consistently and over a long period of time.

Specifically, the Blueair Classic 605 Air Purifier is equipped with an activated carbon filter to absorb the higher levels of gasses and odors present in smoke. These premium purifiers also boast high CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) values for smoke. Their relatively low energy consumption also comes in handy when continuously running an air purifier 24/7 due to environmental factors like wildfire smoke.

The original Blueair Classic Air Purifier Models included the Blueair Classic 200, 300, 400, 500, and 600 air purifiers.
