Frigidaire's Beginning -

The Guardian Frigerator Company, now known as Frigidaire Appliance Company, a division of Electrolux, developed the first self-contained refrigerator. Frigidaire was founded in 1918, over 103 years ago, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. That same year William C. Durant, one of the founders of General Motors, personally invested in the company. In 1919, it adopted the name Frigidaire. Due to the brand's popularity in the refrigeration industry in the early 1900's, many Americans referred to virtually any refrigerator at that time as a "Frigidaire" regardless of the make.

From 1919 to 1979, the company remained under the ownership of General Motors and manufactured compressors for GM's air conditioner-equipped vehicles. Frigidaire was then sold to the White Sewing Machine Company in 1979 that was then subsequently purchased in 1986 by Electrolux. Frigidaire developed the first automatic washers, self-contained electric refrigerators, home air conditioners and eventually started developing the synonymous Frigidaire Dehumidifier.

As a trusted leader in home appliance manufacturing, Frigidaire has always been known for its high-quality, high-performance machines. This award-winning company continues to be committed to customer satisfaction, quality engineering, and outstanding performance. Their Energy Star® High-Efficiency line of dehumidifiers follows these same principles. Why Dehumidification is so Important -

For many individuals worldwide, allergens and their symptoms are a miserable and inevitable part of life. High humidity levels can exacerbate or even be a direct cause of allergens, including mold, mildew, and dust mites. Whether you live in a humid climate or your living space tends to be more humid, you may be suffering from symptoms caused by these allergens. Tight living spaces, limited ventilation, and basement living areas or apartments tend to be more moisture-prone.

Common reactions to allergy triggers include a stuffy nose, itchy or watery eyes, sneezing, wheezing, or difficulty breathing, as well as skin rashes and other bodily irritations. Mold allergens are a frequent contributor to childhood asthma, which can be a debilitating and expensive issue for children and parents, especially when developed at a young age. Mold and mildew growth due to high moisture levels can cause significant breathing issues for adults as well.

Excess moisture can also cause a whole slew of costly household problems related to mold and mildew growth. Signs you may have excess moisture in your home include water stains and even visible mold growth on the walls and or ceilings. Frequent condensation in spaces like bathrooms or laundry rooms can cause serious and expensive problems down the road. Small black spots (potential mold spores) are often an indicator of high humidity, especially in those areas most prone to moisture.

Overall, when trying to eliminate unhealthy allergens, prevent allergic reactions, and limit or reduce excess moisture a dehumidifier is a vital tool. Dehumidifiers
can turn the tide and mean the difference between an excessively expensive mold remediation renovation and a minimal cost home investment appliance. They can tackle various moisture removal jobs including bathroom and laundry room moisture removal all the way to significant large space humidity reduction.

Choosing the Right Dehumidifier -

Frigidaire has many different options when it comes to dehumidifiers, the one you choose should depend on the space, environment, and climate you plan to use it in. Smaller capacity models are ideal for specific areas like bathrooms or laundry rooms; larger units can easily tackle large crawlspaces, workshops, garages, and basements. Whole-home units are probably a better option for those who live in more consistently humid climates where excess moisture is rampant. Dehumidifiers are also a vital tool in the case of a storm/flooding event or other such larger-scale water removal issue.

Frigidaire humidifiers are beneficial because they base their effectiveness off of the amount of humidity in your space. For example, they have specific models for low humidity, moderate humidity, and high humidity to cover a wide range of situations and needs. Depending on your specific needs, you can opt for either continuous drainage or pump included model as well as other advanced and convenient features. In addition, Frigidaire dehumidifiers vary in capacity based on the amount of moisture removal needed making them ideal for various climates and scenarios.
