Humidity Control

It is important for homes to have just the right amount of humidity, especially during winter and the driest months of the year. Proper humidity can be attained using the right humidity control products, depending on your need. On the other hand, too much excess moisture can lead to musty odors and even mold and mildew growth, causing major problems for our health (like a mold allergy) and indoor air quality. While low humidity can cause dry skin and hair, increased susceptibility to colds and respiratory illness, and aggravated asthma symptoms, it can also allow viruses and germs to thrive. To avoid these irritating and uncomfortable issues with humidity, it's recommended to keep humidity levels between 35% - 50% using both a humidifier and a dehumidifier when needed. Humidity levels less than 30% are usually too dry, while anything over 50% is considered high. With the right humidity level and humidity control products, you can soothe dry noses, irritated sinuses, coughs, and congestion. Take a look at our humidifiers and dehumidifiers below and try these helpful steps to take control of the humidity in your home:

  • Make maintaining the right humidity level easier by using a humidity gauge or Hygrometer to measure humidity levels in your home accurately. We recommend the AcuRite Indoor Humidity Monitor & Thermometer.

  • A dehumidifier helps to keep basements and crawlspaces from becoming damp and smelly, as well as preventing mold and mildew. We recommend the Danby DDR050BJWD-ME Energy Star 50-Pint Dehumidifier, and for tougher whole home or commercial jobs we recommend the Fral FDK54 Dehumidifier.

  • Home humidifiers add moisture back into the air during cold winter months. This is vital to help soothe dry skin, sinuses, coughs, and congestion. We recommend the Boneco U350 Ultrasonic Warm or Cool Mist Humidifier with Top-fill Design.
