Knowing the relative humidity in your home is very important in controlling dust mites and mold since both thrive in moist settings. The relative humidity should remain in the range of 40-50% in hot, humid months, but may fall lower in cold, dry months.

Temperature and Humidity Gauge Product Notes:

• When the humidity level in your home gets below 50%, dust mites slow down.
• Humidity under 40% acutally kills and eliminates them altogether because it's too dry for them to survive (except in your bed where it's always warm and humid due to your body - this is why bed encasings are so critical).
• If your humidity is high, you may need to consider a dehumidifier.

Keeping the humidity down is a plus when fighting dust mites, etc. I also gave one to my son and he was pleased with the accuracy of the unit.
