Like all our bath and body products, this Vanicream Sunscreen is best known for what is not in it. Vanicream SPF is free of preservatives, dyes, perfume, fragrance or masking fragrance, lanolin, formaldehyde, PABA and benzophenones. While all sunscreens protect your skin from the sun's burning UVB rays, Vanicream spf 60, spf 35 and spf 30 Sunscreens contains Zinc Oxide or Z-Cote HP1. This patented ingredient offers additional protection from the UVA I & II rays, which may contribute to skin damage and premature aging of the skin. 

Vanicream Sunscreen Product Notes:

• Vanicream Sunscreen's broad-spectrum protection also contains healing vitamin E, and it is safe to use on children down to 6 months of age.
• It is important to note that the Vanicream 30 SPF and Vanicream 60 SPF sunscreens are chemical-free and they physically block the sun's harmful rays with the additional ingredient Microfine Titanium Dioxide.
• The best news is that these formulas from Pharmaceutical Specialties leave no white residue on the skin and apply cleanly with no color.
• FYI: According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, both UVA and UVB rays penetrate the atmosphere and play an important role in conditions such as premature skin aging, eye damage (including cataracts), and skin cancers.
  • UVA rays, which penetrate the skin more deeply than UVB, have long been known to play a major part in skin aging and wrinkling, and are now known to contribute to and may even initiate the development of skin cancers. These rays can penetrate glass (including auto windows) and light clothing.
  • UVB rays, the chief cause of skin reddening and sunburn, tend to damage the skin’s more superficial epidermal layers. They play a key role in the development of skin cancer and a contributory role in tanning and wrinkling. UVB rays do not significantly penetrate glass.
  • The Skin Cancer Foundation maintains that SPFs of 15 or higher are necessary for adequate protection.
  • SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. The SPF number indicates how long you can stay in the sun with that sunscreen without burning. For example, a person that normally burns in 10 minutes when out in the sun without protection, could stay out 15 times longer (150 minutes) and not burn with a sunscreen SPF of 15. However, depending on the intensity of the heat, sunburns could occur in a much shorter time. Vanicream sunscreen is available in SPF60, SPF35 and SPF30.
  • Sunscreen can help prevent short-term and long-term damaging effects of sunlight, but overexposure to the sun should be avoided even with sunscreen.

Vanicream Sunscreen should be applied generously 1/2 hour before going outdoors. In addition, sunscreen should be reapplied at least every 2 hours and after swimming or sweating.

•   Kerry - 5/11/12 10:52 am I have only used this product once, but I liked it. I highly recommend multiple applications because it is so thick, it is hard to know if you have applied it all over. The product really works, so if you didn't get it all over, you will burn in the spots you missed and look funny, like I currently do. :-)
