This full-featured shower filter initially removes 99% of free chlorine, combined chlorine (sodium hypochlorite) and hydrogen sulfide (odors). After approximately 3 months of use (or 3000 gallons of water passing through), the filtering capacity decreases to 75%, and it is time to replace the filter. Carcinogenic chemicals like chlorine in our water can have long-term health effects and make chemically sensitive individuals react. Having chemical-free water can also mean softer skin and hair. •   Catharina - 1/26/12 15:01 pm I assume it filters (I think it actually helps with dry skin in the winter months) but the water pressure is dreadful. We ended up installing 2 handheld showers - this and an "unfiltered" speakman, because I don't have the time to spend 2 hours trying to rinse shampoo out of my hair (the Speakman does it in 2 minutes). I do like that it filters though, so I use this one whenever i don't need water pressure.
