Description

The Honeywell Quiet Care 17005 purifier hardly makes a peep as it effectively traps the pollutants and airborne allergens that fill your home. This Honeywell HEPA Air Purifier is great for next to your bed, on your desk at work, or in a baby's room. If you wake up in the morning with a runny nose, itchy and swollen eyes, or experience frequent sneezing and wheezing, you may be reacting to airborne contaminants. Homes and offices today are built to airtight specifications to conserve energy, forcing airborne particles to remain in the air with nowhere else to go. A True Honeywell HEPA Air Purifier can help! Honeywell HEPA Air Purifier filters remove 99.97% of airborne particles down to .3 microns.
5-Year Mfr. Warranty.

A Word of Caution: No air cleaner will eliminate the health risks associated with tobacco smoke.

Additional Info

Honeywell Quiet Care Product Notes:

  • Independent lab tests have shown that the Honeywell Quiet Care 17005 helps reduce airborne germs, bacteria, mold spores and fungus with up to 100% efficiency (based on tests of bacteria and fungi forming colonies in a closed room. Bacterial reduction up to 100% with a mean reduction of 99.3%).
  • Indoor air is loaded with microscopic dust mite allergen, animal dander, room dust, mold spores, bacteria, viruses and more.
  • These contaminants all contribute to poor indoor air quality which is ranked among the top five environmental risks to public health.
  • A survey conducted by Riter Research found that, of physicians that recommended air cleaners, 93% consider HEPA filtration to be very effective and the majority of those physicians recommend Honeywell Enviracaire specifically.
  • The Honeywell Quiet Care 17005 is quite portable with a top hand grip.
  • True HEPA filters, by definition, capture 99.97% of airborne contaminants .3 microns in size and larger - even bacteria and some viruses are retained.
  • Be sure to choose a filter powerful enough for your room size. A good rule of thumb with air cleaning is: the more times the air is filtered, the better - you just can't over clean.

Features:

  • The 17005 Model features a 3-speed motor with updraft clean air exhaust, a handy remote control, and the new Permanent HEPA Filter. This new filter uses the same proven filter design with a new weave that allows for a protective barrier and vacuum-ability (we highly recommend using a HEPA filtered vacuum during main filter cleaning).
  • The Intelli-Check electronic filter monitor reminds you when to clean the HEPA filter and replace the pre-filter through a progressive chart on the LED display.
  • With full electronic controls, you can set up a custom program that controls air output at specified times.
  • The unit requires no assembly, just plug it in and start breathing clean air tonight.

  •   Karen Anne - 8/2/12 12:03 pm I've had this for three years. I find it to be very helpful. In the spring when I start having a lot of post nasal drip and coughing, I run it and within a day or two my symptoms are significantly reduced. I don't use the programmable feature, so I can't speak to that.

At first the "white noise" bothered me, so I'd run it when I left the house or in another room at night, but now I don't notice it much. I only run it at low speed, the higher speeds are significantly noisier. The remote is handy. Another reviewer mentioned an odor. There's never been an odor with mine. I plan to get another one for upstairs.

  •   anon. - 10/20/11 14:13 pm We turn the unit on about 2 hours before going to bed on a higher speed with the bedroom door shut. Then turn it down to "low" for sleeping. Combined with weekly washing of bedding, using boric acid spray to control dust mites and so on, I have noticed lessened allergy and asthma symptoms when using the air purifier. "Lessened symptoms" doesn't sound like a very big deal, but using the purifier along with other allergen-reducing efforts can mean the difference between sleeping all night and waking up because you cannot breathe well. It's an additional, drug-free way to try to control night-time allergy symptoms and daytime fatigue. Not a cure-all. But it helps. You do, however, have to leave the bedroom and get hit with allergens and you'll feel the difference.
UPDATE: I have replaced the carbon filter on this HEPA unit and this is easy to do.
It was too loud to sleep with, so I started running it during the day and shutting it off at night. This arrangement works much better and does not disturb our sleep. Added a larger HEPA unit for elsewhere in the house and this helps as well.

  •   Kathy - 10/26/10 19:34 pm Great portable air purifier. So quiet and love that remote control. Still learning how to set up all of the machine's programmable features. I agree with Denise, it's a much better product than what you might find at discount or department stores.

  •   James - 10/24/10 16:52 pm We bought this for our daughter in her college dorm room. It provides enough noise to create a good sleeping time plus cleans the air well. She has had fewer colds since adding the air purifier. The unit is easy to use and has programable settings and a remote control.

  •   Denise - 6/15/10 22:01 pm Easy to set up and clean. I'm amazed at how quiet this filter is and I love the fact that it has a remote control. It's a much better product than what you'll find at a discount store. Love it!
