•   carl - 10/30/11 16:27 pm I have gone years suffering with allergies but not knowing I had them until recently diagnosed. I have listened to the allergist and bought not only two of these air purifiers but the bed and pillow encasings for dust mites and I have to say I didn't believe these things work but I can now say I was completely wrong! These products are amazing and they actually work! The air purifiers are worth EVERY penny and if either one broke tomorrow I would absolutely get another one..they are quiet and work FAST. I first got one for the bedroom, I vacuumed the entire room first, put the covers on the mattress and pillows and then turned on the purifier and let it run for a few hours before going to bed. That first night was all the proof I needed these products work just like they say they do. After having the 450 purifier in the bedroom for 2 weeks we ordered the bigger 510 (this one) for the living room with the same results. You can actually feel and smell the difference in the entire house and you can breathe! If you are on the fence or skeptical about buying one of these purifiers or the bed encasings don't be... JUST DO IT they work... you will not be disappointed.

•   AzPhoenix - 7/8/11 15:14 pm I have 2 of these and they work great for bedrooms around 350sf in size. And the filter replacements are very affordable if you buy the off-brand ones offered on this site. Someone also mentioned a complaint about a squeaky noise. It took 2 years for 1 of ours to do this after being set to HI for ~12hrs/day, but unlike what was mentioned in that review, you do have easy access to the motor inside where you can apply some WD40 or silicone for the bearing inside. 2 years later, still no squeak, easy fix if you're comfortable with a screw driver, and I'd still recommend it.

•   HVZ - 4/10/11 21:20 pm GREAT air cleaner, really quiet on low. Turbo speed is great during room cleaning, when dust is getting disturbed. EASY carry handle and Turbo speed make it worth the extra [$] compared to the other Whispure this size.

•   DVO - 4/10/11 19:55 pm We received this unit about three weeks ago and it's working very well. It's quiet up to medium while still providing a good flow of clean air. The highest speed moves a lot of air but we don't use that setting while we're in the room. We now have three Whirlpool air cleaners and each has performed perfectly. I believe I bough the first one almost ten years ago.

•   RG - 12/19/10 11:05 am I didn't rate this product originally, but am looking to purchase a second unit and this was rated at a 3 overall. I couldn't let that go. I purchased this unit, plugged it in, and it has been running flawlessly for about 6 months. I have gone through 2 pre filters. I move it downstairs where my parrot lives and in a couple of hours it clears up the room. It is noisy on the high setting, but I run it on low during the night. Very happy with the performance and didn't want one bad rating to overly influence. Also, it was the highest rated on consumer reports and is cheaper than the GE.

•   Hugh - 9/28/10 10:52 am When my brand new unit arrived (with no apparent package damage from FedEx) it refused to even turn on - it was completely inoperable. Also, the front filter cover is held on by two flimsy plastic tabs, and one of them was misshapen so the right side of the cover keeps coming off. Typical cheap Chinese plastic product; I replaced it with the Korean-made GE AFHC32AM, which is much more robust and well put together.

•   CL - 6/2/10 14:09 pm It is a great product. My 6 years old son had severe sinus allergy for the past few months that couldn't get cured by antibiotics. I did a lot research and feel this is a good unit with a good price too. I am so glad I bought it. It is very effective. Our downstairs is very clean now, and my son's sinus allergy is almost cured. One feature I really like is that the air blows out from the top. So I can put this anywhere (even in the corner) in the house.
  
  I would like to mention that it is a little nosier at the lowest level than I expected. I am very sensitive to noise so I don't think I can sleep if leaving it on in our bedroom at night. In our case, I leave it on day and night in our living room downstairs and it works great.
