Now there's an alternative to washing your bedding in extra-hot water. Just one and one-half (1 1/2) tablespoons of DeMite laundry additive in hot, warm or cold water will eliminate dust mite allergen in your bedding or clothing. Regular detergent alone won't solve the mite problem in your laundry, but the active ingredients in DeMite laundry additive eliminate the allergen with each wash. Give your bedding and clothes a break from hot water washing and still solve the dust mite problem with DeMite!

•   Margaret - 1/13/12 16:50 pm This stuff is great. I have expensive high thread count sheets and a duvet that have instructions to wash in cold water. With this, I don't have to worry about using hot water to wash all my bedding. It's good for my bedding and my allergies!

That, in combination with the pillows and pillow casings, allows me a peaceful sleep without having to worry about waking up and looking like the creature from the black lagoon in the morning (it is so embarrassing to have a swollen face and swollen eyes - not to mention, it hurts, too).

I suppose it is pleasant to others but it reminds me of the smell of lice shampoo so brings back bad childhood memories. Otherwise its very effective and I breathe easier having the dust mites under control.

To be honest, I bought all the bed and box spring covers, the pillow covers, etc. I use this on their clothing etc. What I can say, is that my son is now sleeping flat and not snoring. One month ago he slept sitting up. I think for everything to work, you have to buy everything. But really, my son is sleeping flat, is getting rest and no longer tired. That is priceless and worth all of the money in the world. And I didn't smell anything funky with it. And I love that I can save money and energy, etc, by using cold water. That alone should cover any costs. Love, love, love this company.

Since then, he doesn't get as many asthma flare ups and it gives me a peace of mind that his bedding items as well as clothes are being clean regardless of what water temperature I use. The smell is not strong, but we did run a second rinse to make sure it was all out after it did it's job of killing the mites.
