Dri-Pak Pure Soap Flakes are made the simple way soap has been made for centuries – from pure soap in a flake form shaped like tiny flat diamonds. Dri-Pak Soap Flakes are made from a 100% vegetable base of palm and coconut oils, which have been responsibly harvested. These wonderful soap flakes contain no additives – no bleaches, no phosphates, no enzymes, no harsh chemicals, and no perfumes. Because Soap Flakes are 100% pure soap, and not a detergent, they are non irritating to the skin – a bonus for allergy sufferers and those with skin or chemical sensitivities. It’s hard to believe that anyone makes simple and effective products like this any more, but we’re glad to confirm they still exist. Available in a 1-lb bag.
How many Washes are Possible with a Pound of Dri-Pak Soap Flakes?<
The amount of Soap Flakes you use will depend on various factors, such as your water hardness (softer water works better), how soiled the items are that you are laundering, and whether you are adding other agents, such as borax, baking soda or a washing soda. Generally, use enough Soap Flakes to obtain a "rich, creamy lather." If the mixture is slippery, and there are enough suds, you are using the correct amount. See below for an approximate number of washes.
Below is the approximate number of washes to expect from a pound of Soap Flakes. This can increase or decrease depending upon the above considerations. The more you use Soap Flakes, the more you will learn the correct amount to use for your needs.
Note: People with nut allergies may wish to avoid using this product, as coconut and palm oils form the soap base.

These soap flakes have left my laundry astonishingly soft - so very comfortable for super-sensitive skin. I am amazed at how much less itching and rash, after many years of severe atopic and contact dermatitis. They do cost more than standard laundry detergents and require more time to use - they must first be dissolved in very hot water before they are added to warm or cold water wash. In my book, they are very much worth the extra time and expense.
I like to start by dissolving 1/2 cup flakes in 4 cups near-boiling water, in a pyrex bowl. Then directly in washer water, add 1/2 - 1 cup of baking soda. Then mix in the dissolved soap flakes, with a wooden spoon or wire whisk. Then add the laundry. Double rinse as always, using 1/2 -1 cup white vinegar in the final rinse but no commercial fabric softeners needed. The vinegar scent quickly disappears.
Since there are no optical brighteners, white nylons may eventually look dingier than we've come to expect when using harsh detergents. Occasionally soaking in a mild oxygen bleach solution before laundering does the trick. If some clothes are caked with dirt from gardening or construction, i wash onr cycle with a stronger detergent, then put the prewashed items in with a soap-flake laundry batch for softening.
If you have sensitive skin, try these soap flakes! My ordinary cotton sheets feel like pima cotton; same with blouses, underwear, and towels. (Posted on 5/13/13)
Great for laundry- non-irritating (other detergents give me a rash when I use them on my clothes), makes clothes really soft- even without fabric softener and even if I hang dry. Inexpensive compared to most detergents- and even great for hand wash and other household uses. I take a ziplock bag full of this for travel (for hand wash and and hang dry in hotel rooms). A great product! (Posted on 5/13/13)
I bought these somewhere else, and then I just had to have more and found they were priced really well here. These flakes are wonderful. My clothes are softer than they've ever been after going through a normal wash with Soap Flakes. I used to have to rinse my clothing 2 extra times and still I itched. Now I just run it once through the wash and have no more itchies. I'm amazed at how well it cleans. My clothes also look brighter than they did in the regular laundry detergents full of chemicals. I love this stuff. (Posted on 11/8/11)
For decades I put up with irritation of the skin on my neck and groin, and, as I've been getting older, on my arms. Several months ago I discovered the line of Vanicream products. I tried the laundry flakes for washing underwear and shirts. To my absolute amazement, the skin irritation has cleared! Lately, I have pre-mixed the flakes with water for a liquid suspension of the laundry product which I store in a 2 quart plastic bottle (just personal preference). I always use the extra rinse cycle in the washing machine. (Posted on 2/15/11)
